Trade and Sell with The Ogre’s Den

We wouldn’t be able to maintain our collection and selection without you! From complete collections to a couple of choice cards, The Ogre’s Den trades every day and buys on most days. Our needs change daily, so we’re always willing to take a look at what you have. All of our staff can do simple Magic: The Gathering trades, however, we have different roles and permissions in our process, so there may be slower turnaround on items requiring specific expertise. Please call ahead if you want to be sure there are staff on the clock who can handle your needs!

What do We Take?

Listed below are the most common items we trade for and purchase! Items not listed, such as minis, oddities, rarities, and accessories may be considered, however, we can’t promise we’ll take them.

• Magic: The Gathering Singles and Sealed Product: we’re always on the hunt for single cards and sealed product to keep our binders, cases, and shelves full-up! Remember, what we need varies day-to-day, so it’s always worth checking in.   
• Official Bundle Boxes, Clicker Counters, and Spindown Dice: handy storage solutions and counters are in high demand at The Den, we take these at a standardized flat rate that does not change based on your payout choice.
• Lorcana Singles: we’re starting to build our store’s Lorcana collection and have a small stash of binders and case cards we need to keep stocked. <TCG player converted??> 

Note: We reserve the right to decline any trade or sale for any reason.

Our Process

When you bring us a trade or a sale, the general process is as follows:

• You come in to The Den, bring your items to the counter, and let one of our staff members know you’re here to trade or sell. Depending on what you’ve brought us, how busy the counter is, and whether there are any other trades/sales ahead of you, we may need you to wait a bit. If you need to wait, we’ll estimate the wait time to the best of our abilities.
• If it’s a simple Magic: The Gathering singles trade, a staff member will look through the cards you have on offer, select what we’re interested in, grade and value the cards, and make you an offer based on whether you want card for card trade credit or store credit. If you accept the offer, we will immediately update your store account to reflect the trade value.
• If it’s Magic: The Gathering sealed product, a staff member will consult with management, and, if approved, make you an offer based on whether you want card for card trade credit, store credit, or cash. If you accept a trade offer, we will immediately update your store account to reflect the trade value. If you accept a cash offer, read on for more information. Please note that we will 
• If it’s a Magic: The Gathering collection, a senior staff member will appraise and value your collection based on our needs (this involves using our bulk rate for cards that we do not need) and make you an offer based on whether you want card for card trade credit, store credit, or cash. If you accept a trade offer, we will immediately update your store account to reflect the trade value. If you accept a cash offer, read on for more information. Please note that collections are the most labour-intensive form of trading and purchasing we do, so we may take up to a few weeks for a large or complex collection.
• If it’s a small Magic: The Gathering cash sale, a senior staff member will confirm the cards selected and make you an offer. If you accept the offer, you will be paid out in cash immediately.
• If it’s a large Magic: The Gathering cash sale, a senior staff member will confirm the cards or collection and make you an offer. If you accept the offer, you will need to present us with valid government-issued photo ID, and then The Ogre himself will cut you a cheque when he is available.
• If it’s a Lorcana trade, one of our Lorcana experts will look through the cards you have on offer, select what we’re interested in, grade and value the cards, and make you an offer based on whether you want card for card trade credit or store credit. If you accept the offer, we will immediately update your store account to reflect the trade value. Please note that our ability to take Lorcana cards is limited by the availability of our Lorcana experts and we cannot trade for Lorcana unless an expert is on staff.

Our Rates

Singles and Sealed Product

• Card for Card Trade Credit: 80% of our sale price estimate
• Store Credit: 60% of our sale price estimate
• Cash: 50% of our sale price estimate 

Dice, Clickers, and Bundle Boxes

• Basic Spindown Dice: $1.00 per die
• Bundle Spindown Dice: $2.50 per die
• Bundle Boxes: $2.50 per box
• Clickers: 50% of our sale price estimate 

Bulk Cards

Due to the amount of work needed to process bulk, we offer flat rates for bulk cards regardless of your payout choice. We accept completely unsorted bulk cards of any rarity at the flat rate of $3.00 per 1000 cards. We accept unsorted bulk rares and mythics at the rate of $0.10 per card (ALL cards offered must be rare or mythic for this rate). 

Fake and Proxy Cards

Please remove any unofficial cards from your collection or offer before presenting it to us. If we find fake or proxy cards in your collection or trade offer, we will notify you of their presence and may choose to stop processing your cards. We reserve the right to refuse all future trading and selling privileges to anyone who presents us an offer that includes unofficial cards.
